Combining art and fashion is not a new concept to the French fashion maison, Louis Vuitton, whose creative director Marc Jacobs has forged close ties with contemporary artists. This time around, Japanese pop artist Yayoi Kusama is the focus of Jacobs’ whimsical collaboration with her signature bold, graphic polka dots, the theme of the special Louis Vuitton - Yayoi Kusama Pop-Up stores across the globe.
LV also published two beautiful commemorative books, one about the career of the famed artist with vibrant photographs depicting her works of art and creative genius, and the other Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, with artwork by Yayoi Kusama.
Only seven Pop-Up Stores across the globe were created, alongside similar stores in fashion capitals Paris, London, Tokyo, New York and Hong Kong. The Pop-Up store is open to art and fashion lovers till 1 November 2012 at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Ngee Ann City, Singapore.
French handbag manufacturer Goyard has made headlines recently for its book release. Why, is this? Well, because the book costs $7,000. The book - which is dedicated to celebrating the 1920s as the golden age of luxury travel - is limited edition, with only 233 copies in print. Each bears a number to signify its rarity and comes in a customizable Goyard trunk (packaging alone worth the price.)
