It’s that time of year again! The NCAA Final Four is April 6, with the National Championship game being played on April 8 in Atlanta, Georgia.

College basketball is officially underway to start the 2012-13 season! Sports Illustrated featured Indiana University’s Cody Zeller on the College Basketball Preview Issue. Zeller is the press-season player of the year with his Hoosiers being the pre-season favorite as the number-one ranked team in the U.S. “Best team, best player, best pants.”
The rings are massive with plenty of, yes, bling. The Miami Heat were presented their Championship rings prior to tipping off the season against the Boston Celtics. The Rings are 14-karat yellow gold and have 219 diamonds, totaling 10.8 carats each. It weighs over 114-grams, so heavy in fact, if you wear it, you would indeed walk with a limp. The Championship jewelry is designed by Minnesota-based design leader Jostens, with 115 year tradition of making championship jewelry and hardware.
Facebook created its first-ever TV advertisement to commemorate reaching 1 billion users. The irony of it, it makes very little sense.

The new $315 LeBron X would be Nike’s most expensive shoe ever, and will include motion sensors to measure your vertical jump, according to The Wall Street Journal. Unveiled by NBA superstar LeBron James during the 2012 Olympic gold medal basketball game between the United States and Spain, it will be available this fall. Nike products have seen an increase in price by up to 10-percent.
Perhaps a pair of Armani shoes is a better investment.

No surprise here. Team USA Basketball defeats Spain 107-100 for gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games. U.S. Basketball is now 130-5 all-time in Olympic games.
The Olympics did a little to boost Kobe Bryant’s social media presence this week. Bryant picked up 78,000 new followers. Not too shabby until you look at the numbers Lebron James put up. The NBA champ tacked on an additional 600,000 followers. Despite the increase Bryant remains the most followed Olympian.

Then and now. The look of USA basketball’s dream team has changed in twenty years, but the goal remains the same. GOLD. Five members of the gold medal winning line-up from the 2008 Bejing Games have been included in the 12-man US Olympic basketball team. LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Deron Williams return for another bid for Olympic glory in London where the US are the heavy favorites.
Nike is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Dream Team by releasing a USA Basketball Pack that includes several Olympic-inspired classics, such as Charles Barkley’s Nike Air Force 180.
