Australian police force is using Instagram hashtags including (#aussiestoners #oznugs and #weedstagram) to pinpoint marijuana smokers down under. Ganja lovers all over the globe have been known for posting their smoke-filled images, including most notable celeb-smokers Snoop Dogg and Rihanna, but Aussies are beginning to heed the warning. A Victoria Police spokesman recently warned that “online dopes” would be found and prosecuted and face a heavy penalty if brought to justice. Go green, post your Instagram photos wisely and don’t forget to “puff, puff, pass.”
Australian swimmers Nick D’Arcy and Kenrick Monk have been banned from using Social Media during the 2012 Olympic Games after posting pictures of themselves with guns. The pictures were taken during a trip to a shooting range in the U.S.
The most interesting aspect of this is the varying cultural responses to guns. In the US, the right to bear arms is written into the constitution. I can’t help but wonder if the Dutch were completely non-pulsed by photos of Michael Phelps smoking out of a bong after the last Olypmics. Is the U.S. the Amsterdam of guns?
