Making Babies is a Civic Duty
Singapore has a history of population issues. In 1965 growth was going along at such a clip the government instituted the “Stop at Two” campaign.
“Stop at Two” was such a success that in 1986 the slogan switched to “three or more, if you can afford it.” It is estimated that 1 in five Singapore residents will be over 65 by 2030.
To promote the baby making Singapore offers substantial tax rebates to families having their fourth child. The City state also teamed up with Mentos to create the above video and encourage getting it on in the name of civic duty.
Youtube has launched an investigative news channel called “I files” with help from the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR). The channel will collect videos from major media outlets such as the New York Times, BBC, and Al-Jazeera as well as offer a platform for independent content creators.
CIR Senior Producer Stephen Talbot said in a blog post about the channel
“The main assignment of I Files is to be timely and relevant, to provide an outlet for a citizen journalist who captures an incredible moment on camera, but above all to dig deeper and to present well-reported and engaging stories that offer real information and insights.”
“Attention is the way social primates measure status. It is highly rewarding because it causes the release of brain chemicals such as dopamine and endorphins.”
Earlier this week, the New York Knicks point guard was also named the NBA’s first-ever “Social Breakout Player of the Year” for his social media dominance.
At the NBA’s Social Media Awards presentation ceremony, Lin won the Epic Award for his 38-point breakout during a Feb. 10 win against the Los Angeles Lakers at Madison Square Garden, which the NBA dubbed “Linsanity Begins.”
