The first iconic VW Transporter—camper vans, or minibus as they are better known—were first assembled in Sao Paolo, Brazil over 60 years ago. The discontinuing of the VW minibus, the longest -produced model in automotive history will disappoint Cali surfers and fans of the classic van the world over.
Volkswagen will roll out the final, commemorative edition of the camper van, which will include design quirks and audio upgrades to better suit today’s modern-technology. Only 600 Limited Edition vehicles will be produced, with each including a Certificate Of Authenticity, and each will retail for roughly US$37,000.   www.volkswagen.com

Whether it’s true or not, most people are judged by their bags the minute they enter the airport. And like their automobile, size is everything.  That’s because the choice in bag says as much about his or her packing skills as their ability to make practical and stylistic decisions.

So you’ll want something that carries all your necessities, is convenient to haul all over the world, and doesn’t look tattered when coupled with your traveling attire. These bags from the JanSport x Benny Gold x Pendleton ‘Native’ Collection should answer the call. Available globally.

More than forty years after his death, Jimi Hendrix—recently named the greatest guitarist of all time by ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine—continues to inspire fans of rock music. Many have written about Hendrix’s life and music, but “Jimi Hendrix: A Brother’s Story” provides a revealing and unprecedented look at this visionary icon: an intimate biography written by Jimi’s younger brother, Leon.

Exploring the 2013 Serpentine Pavilion on Instagram

For more photos and videos from this year’s Pavilion, explore the Serpentine Pavilion by Sou Fujimoto location page.

Since the year 2000, London’s Serpentine Gallery (@serpentineuk) has invited a different notable architect to design a structure—the Pavilion—on their lawn to showcase contemporary architectural practice. While past invitees include legendary Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and Chinese artist Ai Weiwei (@aiww), this year’s architect is 41-year-old Sou Fujimoto—the youngest architect to receive a Serpentine commission yet. Fujimoto has constructed a 350 square-meter structure made of delicately latticed steel poles that questions the relationship between architecture and nature.

Recently, the Gallery also commissioned London-based studio United Visual Artists (UVA) and creative agency My Beautiful City (@mybeautifulcity) to install a series of LED lights throughout the pavilion for the 2013 Summer Party. For the event, the lights flashed and pulsated to mimic the electrical charges active within a storm cloud while a perfectly synchronized soundtrack of electrical buzzing and rolling thunder brought the experience to life.

Off the beaten … Path is one social platform in particular Indonesian’s love more than others. The nation comprises 17,508 islands in Southeast Asia and is the third-largest country in Path’s 12-million-person global network. We checked in January of this year and over 40% of all Path users are Indonesian. The US-based social network is working with Indonesia’s local Sony Mobile Communications to pre-install the app on the new Xperia Z Ultra mobile units. In addition, the company is in talks with local telecommunication providers to help boost popularity in the country. Indonesians are connected and social individuals, at least digitally. Ask any Indonesian with his/her face in front of a mobile device and chances are they are updating their ‘Path.’ We will continue to monitor the situation, considering nearly all our friends and colleagues are actively using the network. -SI
