A new poll shows that social media continues to make incursions into the news business. Americans under 30 are now as likely to consider social media their primary source of news as they are television. Pole respondents were asked about recent news consumption. Only 13% had read a newspaper, including digital editions, in the last 24 hours.
Twitter was studied independently of other social media sites. Only 11% of Americans use the site, but the majority of users do consider it a primary news source and were likely to re-tweet news related content.
