Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta is celebrating its 50th anniversary on September 19th in the Grand Ballroom with a bash titled “The Legendary Journey.” Opened in 1962 by then president Sukarno and managed since 2008 by Kempinski, the hotel was the first 5-star establishment in the country and today is still the top business hotel in Jakarta.
A city-wide landmark, the hotel has always represented the glamour and prestigious side of life in the bustling capitol. Former US president John F. Kennedy and glamour icon Marilyn Monroe both were guests. It has been the launch pad for numerous musical acts and houses works by renowned local and international artists. It is simultaniously a thriving business, historical landmark, and symbol of Indonesian pride located in the heart of Jakarta. Today Hotel Indonesia Kempinksi Jakarta is attached to one of Asia’s largest shopping malls, Grand Indonesia Shopping Town.
