It looks like Jakarta traffic just got slightly more tolerable. Now while you’re huffing smog and watching congestion steal hours of your life, you can surf the web! Beginning in September, free WiFi will be available along some of the capital’s major arteries.
In a piece by the Jakarta Globe, Jakarta governor Fauzi Bowo was quoted as saying “This new WiFi network is being implemented to contribute to the development and advancement of Jakarta as a metropolitan city.”
Social Irony’s sixth sense is reporting from the future that the WiFi is buggy and works like most things in the city: kinda, sorta.
