Opening ceremony is later today and Getty Images will document the entire stadium in one gigantic 20-gigapixel image to be uploaded to the Getty Images UK site following the event. The image will be created using two Nikon D800s, one mounted on a robotic camera mount, and any of the 70,000+ attendees will be able to zoom in and tag themselves (assuming on Facebook).
This isn’t the first time something like this has been done and it will be interesting to see the result as the world focuses on London for the Olympic Games.
